La Mano Vision

Computer vision for the family tortillería.

Fine-tuned YOLOv8n on 1,000+ hand-labeled frames to track tortilla-bag production from a live RTSP camera feed. Custom IoU-based multi-object tracker with ROI polygon filtering and a state-machine event pipeline (APPEARED, PACKAGED, EXITED). 91.7% mAP50 deployed at 2-5 ms/frame on a CUDA production PC, replacing manual session counts entirely.

La Mano Operations Platform

Production workforce management for a small-business retail operation.

Multi-tenant workforce management platform in daily use at La Mano: biometric kiosk clock-in with face recognition and PIN fallback, manager-approval workflows, multi-location admin tooling, and PDF reporting for hours and temperature compliance. 40+ REST endpoints, scheduled cron jobs, Slack notifications, deployed as a PWA. Replaced paper timesheets across 30+ daily users. Owned solo as founding engineer.

HECHO EN LA

UC Berkeley Data Science grad (‘25) shipping production software end-to-end, full-stack web platforms, and computer-vision systems used in real operations. I like owning problems from “non-technical stakeholder describes a workflow” all the way through “deployed, monitored, iterated.”

What I’ve built recently as the founding engineer for La Mano Tortilleria (LA County, family-owned retail):

  • Full-stack workforce management platform: (Next.js 16, React 19, TypeScript, Prisma/PostgreSQL, Clerk auth) with facial recognition kiosk clock-in, manager-approval workflows, multi-location admin tooling, and PDF reporting. In daily production use.
  • La Mano Vision: a YOLOv8 computer-vision pilot (Python, PyTorch, CUDA) that tracks tortilla-bag production from a live RTSP camera feed at 91.7% mAP50. Custom IoU-based tracker with ROI filtering and event-state machine; deployed on a CUDA 12.8 production PC.

Earlier, at Delete The Divide (LA County), I led a 4-engineer team to design and ship a mentorship platform for 1,000+ residents in 5 weeks, saving the county ~$50K.

What I’m looking for: Full-stack Software Engineer or Associate Product Manager roles on teams that ship to real users. Strongest in TypeScript, React/Next.js, Python, REST APIs, and ML/CV. Bilingual (English + Spanish). Open to SF Bay Area, LA, and remote.

Founding Engineer
La Mano Tortillería · Pico Rivera, CA
  • Architected and shipped a full-stack workforce management platform used daily by store employees. Next.js 16 / React 19 / TypeScript on Prisma + PostgreSQL, Clerk auth, Tailwind v4, deployed as a PWA. Replaced paper timesheets and gave managers real-time visibility into hours, breaks, and shift exceptions.
  • Built a kiosk-mode time-clock with biometric face recognition, PIN fallback, manager-override flow, and Slack alerts for missed punches. Multi-tenant across multiple devices and locations with role-based permissions.
  • Designed 40+ REST API endpoints with schema validation, manager-approval queues, scheduled cron jobs (daily reports, time alerts, checklist archive/populate), and PDF export pipelines for hours-worked, temperature-compliance, and daily activity reports.
  • Trained and deployed a YOLOv8 computer-vision pilot (Python, PyTorch, CUDA) to track tortilla-bag production from a live RTSP camera at 91.7% mAP50 across two object classes after labeling 1,000 frames in Roboflow. Operationalized at 2-5 ms/frame.
  • Owned product end-to-end: gathered requirements from non-technical stakeholders, scoped MVP, prioritized roadmap (workforce mgmt, vision pilot, integrated analytics), shipped iteratively, and ran manual QA against real production data.

Came full circle. Built production software for the place that started it all. Operator instinct and engineering in the same room.

Technology Professional Intern I
Delete The Divide · LA County · Los Angeles, CA
  • Led a 4-engineer team to design and deliver the platform end-to-end in 5 weeks (C# / ASP.NET, JavaScript, REST API, role-based access), saving the county ~$50K.
  • Implemented real-time notifications, admin tooling for processing 100+ mentor applications, and role-based permissions across 1,000+ end users.
  • Ran SCRUM meetings (sprint planning, daily standups, retros) as Project Manager and Lead Developer.
  • Provided in-person tech support and digital-literacy training to library patrons across LA County, including community outreach (YWCA tabling) supporting Delete The Divide's mission.

Proved that product instincts built in a tortillería translate directly to enterprise software teams. Shipped 5x faster than scoped while running the team.

Operations Manager
La Mano Tortillería · Pico Rivera, CA
  • Managed a dynamic team of 20 employees, providing leadership and guidance to ensure seamless establishment operations.
  • Championed a customer-centric approach, emphasizing the delivery of exceptional service to enhance customer satisfaction.
  • Strategically delegated tasks and responsibilities to optimize workflow, ensuring preparedness during peak business hours and maintaining efficiency during rushes.

This is where the story starts. Running a real business before college built the operational instinct that everything since has been built on.
